Auxiliary verb

■ can/be able to
  be able to: できる(実証済み)
That child could play the piano.
I caught the last train.
That child was able to play the piano.

■ would
(mightの兄弟)
I would go. I would go if I had time. <> I will go.
   Would you like some drink?
Would you mind if I asked you to work today?
   He wouldn’t come. <> He won’t come.
   She would do the work.
   He would often play tennis.

■ will/be going toの違い
I will/(m going to) go to Hawai.

■ may/mightの違い
  may > might 確度の高さ
   That may/might be him. かも知れない(may:50%,might:30%)
   May I?

She dare do that. (助動詞)= She dares to do that.
She dared not do that. = She didn’t dare to do that.
Dare she do that? = Does she dare to do that?
How dare you tell her such a thing.

  - need
You need not talk about it.  = You don’t have to talk about it.
Need I do that?    Yes, you must. /  No, you need not.
I need not have attended the meeting.
